Course Overview

I taught two sections of First-Year Seminar during the 2020-2021 school year at The University of Tampa. While instructors were provided with a course shell, I was able to customize my course in many ways.

Custom Alerts

I created custom course alerts for myself as the instructor so I can identify student who are struggling early on in the semester. I did this under Course Management>Evaluation>Retention Center.

I chose rules centered around a pattern of missing deadlines, last course access, and overall grades to help me identify student who need extra help, support, and/or encouragement.

Discussion Board

I added a discussion board to the course to help students get to know each other, and to help me to get to know each of them as well. I made the instructions clear and concise, and grabbed their attention by using a YouTube song video.
