After earning my bachelor’s degree in applied psychology, I started my career as an AmeriCorps VISTA with a local education nonprofit. After my service year, having fallen in love with recruiting and training volunteers, I stayed on as the volunteer coordinator for another two years.

It was during my time with the nonprofit that I first developed a passion for something I couldn’t easily explain; I loved developing and facilitating educational experiences for the sake of improving volunteers’ performance outcomes. I was also responsible for recruiting hundreds of volunteers and thrived in this task. After three years with the organization I was ready for a change and wanted to explore a career in higher education.

I soon became an admissions counselor at a local university. I started recruiting for the instructional design and technology program, and finally realized there was an actual term for what I was so passionate about at my last job. This realization lead me to earn my master’s degree in instructional design and technology.

During my 5 years with the university, I advanced and finally served as an associate director of graduate admissions. I was also able to teach an undergraduate course focused on academic planning, major exploration, and career readiness. Finally, I was ready to make a career shift and become an instructional designer.

I now serve as a learning experience designer on a team of nearly 40 creatives at Bisk. We work together to develop eLearning for corporate clients and build online courses for higher education partners.

My professional passions include improving processes, mentoring, and talent development. My personal passions include spending time with my wife and rescue dog, volunteering, and reading. I’m originally from upstate New York and have lived in Tampa, Florida for nearly ten years.
